What is REACH?
REACH stands for the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemical substances. It is a European Union program for companies that sell, export, or use products within the EU.
Under REACH Regulation (EC2016/1688), products produced by Coast Label are classified as articles. With concerns to articles, a company is required to notify the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) with information on the properties of a chemical substance if either the following criteria are met:
(A): A chemical substance is intended to be released from the article during normal or reasonable foreseeable conditions of use and the total amount of the chemical substances present in all the articles produced exceeds 1 metric ton (2,204.62 lbs.) per year.
(B): The chemical substances that make up the article are included on the Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC).
Products made at Coast Label Company are not articles with an intended release of chemical substances. The articles also do not contain Substances of Very High Concern. As such we are exempt from registration requirements per the rules of the program. Click here to learn about ISO.
