VOID LABELS

Void labels, also called warranty labels or seals, are designed to clearly show evidence of tampering if someone tries to remove or alter them. They usually leave behind a residue that spells out “VOID” or a similar phrase. Other options break apart into small pieces. They help you enforce warranty terms and add an extra layer of security.

These custom labels from Coast Label can be custom-made to fit your exact needs. We work with you one-on-one to engineer these labels that last and clearly show when someone has tried to tamper with a product or access component parts.

Types of Void Labels

  • Full transfer void labels: When removed, the adhesive and the word “VOID” (or something similar) is left on the surface. Removal destroys the label itself.
  • Partial transfer void labels: When removed, the word “VOID” is left on both the label and the surface. This allows for partial visibility of tampering on both surfaces.
  • Non-transfer void labels:  When removed, the word “VOID” appears on the label. No adhesive or residue is left behind on the surface.
  • Destructible labels: Destructible labels use a very brittle material that breaks into tiny pieces when removed. This provides clear evidence of tampering since the label cannot be removed intact.
  • Temperature-sensitive void labels: These labels are designed to demonstrate tampering or exposure to high temperatures, which is especially useful for products that are sensitive to heat.
  • Holographic void labels: Holographic labels incorporate holographic images for added security. Because they’re difficult to copy, holographic labels provide an additional layer of security against counterfeiting.
  • UV void labels: UV void labels use a special ink that is invisible under normal light. Exposure to UV light reveals a message or pattern. This works well for covert security measures.

Void Label Materials

Warranty labels can be made from a number of materials, depending on the specifics of your application. Here are some of the materials we offer:

  • Polyester (PET): Polyester is durable and resistant to chemicals, moisture, and abrasion. Void labels made from PET are commonly used on electronics, industrial equipment, and anything where longevity matters.
  • Polyethylene (PE): Polyethylene is a very flexible material that is resistant to moisture and chemicals. It works particularly well on curved or irregular surfaces.
  • Polyvinyl chloride (PVC): Polyvinyl chloride is a strong, versatile material that is both chemical and weather resistant. PVC provides clear evidence of tampering and is commonly used on consumer electronics, appliances, and automotive parts.
  • Holographic foil: Warranty labels made from holographic foil are commonly used on high-value products. The holographic layer is difficult to copy and highly visible and prevents counterfeiting.
  • Destructible vinyl: Destructible vinyl is extremely fragile, breaking into tiny pieces when someone tries to remove it. It’s commonly used to seal critical components or on high-security packaging. Void labels made from destructible vinyl are extremely hard to remove without damage and show immediate evidence of tampering.

Best Uses for Void Labels

Void labels are an excellent choice for any application that requires security, authenticity and tamper evidence. Here are some of the best uses of void labels:

  • Electronics: Void labels can be used to seal access points on laptops, smartphones, and other consumer electronics to prevent unauthorized repairs and protect warranty terms.
  • Pharmaceuticals: The pharmaceutical industry is highly regulated to protect consumers. Void labels are used to seal medication containers and packaging to prevent tampering and comply with regulations.
  • Automotive: In the automotive industry, warranty labels can be used to seal critical components, such as engine parts, control modules, and diagnostic ports to ensure the integrity of parts and prevent unauthorized repairs.
  • Documents: Warranty labels can be used to seal envelopes, certificates, and other important documents to ensure the document is authentic and secure.
  • Banking: Banks and financial services use warranty labels to seal ATMs, cash boxes, and secure documents. This prevents tampering and increases the security of financial transactions.

Benefits and Features

These labels are a simple way to increase security and prevent tampering of documents, electronics, equipment, automotive parts, and more. They provide numerous benefits, including:

  • Tamper evidence: Void warranty labels clearly show when a product or package has been tampered with.
  • Warranty protection: These labels help enforce warranty terms by preventing unauthorized access. If the label is removed, the warranty is voided.
  • Increased security: These labels add a layer of security to products and packaging. Because they’re so difficult to copy, they help prevent counterfeiting and tampering.
  • Regulatory compliance: Industries like pharmaceuticals and electronics have to follow numerous regulations, including the use of void warranty labels.
  • Product integrity: Because these labels are durable and resistant to tampering, they protect the integrity of your products, ensuring that they are not altered before reaching the end user.

Some of the features include:

  • Tamper-evident design
  • Durability
  • Highly customizable
  • Various materials to choose from
  • Easy to apply
  • Resistant to harsh conditions
